Treating cervical cancer with Cannabidiol (CBD Therapy).
With each new study that surfaces, we learn more about the potential held within the Cannabis plant. CBD, a component of Cannabis, has already been shown to effectively treat many illnesses, including: epilepsy, Crohn’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and most recently breast cancer. While THC has already been shown to kill cancer cells, studies suggest that CBD affects cancer differently, through apoptosis and autophagy. This means that CBD induces cell death and self eating.
A 2016 study in South Africa using Cannabis Sativa Extracts has further demonstrated its ability to induce apoptosis (cell death), without cell cycle arrest in cervical cancer cells. Both Cannabidiol (CBD) and Cannabis Sativa Extracts were able to halt cell proliferation (cell growth) in varying concentrations. Read more about the Cervical Cancer Study.
Important to note that the results of these studies were discovered in cell cultures and not performed on an actual patient.
